How Hot Is It?

The weather is nice and toasty here today. My little black and tan girl just can't seem to find a cool enough spot to nap during the heat of the day. She says, "It is so hot out that I could be my own wiener roast."

I thought it would be fun to see how hot it is for all of you creative people out there. You know like hot enough to fry and egg on the sidewalk kind of thing. Describe how hot it is in your neck of the woods for all of us in the comments area below. Try to be creative and original.

Looking for a new home...

This was emailed to me on 7/25/11, so I don't have an update on their status, but per the email I received:

Their current owner has to find homes for them because of her current housing situation changing. She loves both of these dogs very dearly and is heartbroken over not being able to keep them. She would prefer that they stay together, but they can be separated if necessary. First is Ozzy, he is a 4 year old Toy Fox Terrier. He is very intelligent and loving. The other one is Brandy, she is a 6 year old Papillon. Brandy is also very loving and funny. Both are housebroken, up to date on all of their shots, and spayed/neutered.

They currently live in the Dayton, Ohio area, i believe. If you are interested in adopting them or have any questions, email me at petsjubilee@live.com and I will contact the sender of the email.

This just breaks my heart. Please help if you can. Thank you :)

Deception in pets

Have you ever wondered how smart your dog really is? Do you question if your pet understands the words you are saying, or if he is simply reacting to your tone of voice?Most dogs have the mental abilities of a two-year old child. They can understand up to 150 words and can count to 4 or 5. If you compare this to most other animals, this is considered pretty smart in the Animal Kingdom.These are all amazing things for a dog to be able to do, but they are also able to do one more thing: consciously deceive their owners! This final characteristic can prove troublesome, as many a dog owner can attest. I’d say the trickiest part of this possibility is the requirement that a dog would have to hold a memory in his mind for a considerable period of time and, then, continue to experience the emotion associated with something that happened in the past.

"We're having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave, ..." My husband use to sing that when the temperature went above 10 degrees in the winter. It seems like a very appropriate song for this past week and on into next week. My ac broke down last night, so I'm singing the blues. Help is on the way. July 20th is....Ugly Truck Day!

This is primarily a guy holiday, but still worth mentioning. After all, how many of the ladies have ever had a truck? Or 'share' a truck with the hubbs? 

Sure, a brand new, shiny truck with all of the gadgets and features still working, is a great thing. But, an old, ugly truck is something to cherish with pride. It has character that a new truck sorely lacks. It has a long history of dents, bangs, and scratches, each with their own tale of how it was proudly earned. Most guys can tell you exactly how and where every dent and scratch occurred, making that ugly truck a walking history book.

So if you are the proud owner of an ugly truck, be sure NOT to wash it or even think about cleaning the inside....just drive around, smile, wave and enjoy the fact that at least one day a year, it's good, right, and acceptable to look ugly and be proud!

This one may not be an ugly truck, but it sure has cute cargo!
