July 27th is Walk on Stilts day!
This is a real holiday! Though it has no real origins that can be found, it has been celebrated for many years, perhaps so we wouldn't forget about this ancient art and remember the fun of walking on stilts. If you've ever been curious about stilt walking, then today is the day to give it a try!
This holiday is celebrated by learning the history of stilt walking. Many
organizations and clubs will host stilt parties where everyone can attempt to walk on stilts with the help of spotters - and first aid kits, if needed!
The local festivals of Anguiano (La Rioja, Spain) feature a dance on stilts in which
dancers go down a stepped street while turning.
If you're looking for a unique party to host then think about a stilt party.
You may need to plan early because it may take a bit of time to find
and buy your stilts....AND to find people to attend!
Or you could invite the short neighborhood canines!
And when you get good....
OOOOOOH...I so badly want a set of these!
