SHOW AND TELL TUESDAY

SHOW AND TELL TUESDAY - PART 4 I've been asking some PetsJubilee team members what their favorite item is that they have sold or made for someone, and why it is a favorite. Or is there a special connection or meaning to the item or the sale.

Here are the last few of the responses I received:

k (kceknits) says: "... this whole felting thing is relatively new to me. I've been knitting for 40+ years, but the felting started about 3 years ago. I moved to the mom's in maine, went from full time work to part time & finally had time to play more with yarn.

I don't know that I have a favorite shop item, but the felted cat beds & kitty kaves have turned out to be the most interesting & rewarding. I end up meeting great cat/dog/pet people, discovered etsy teams. The biggest payback is seeing photos of smiling cats enjoying something I've created & understanding their owners satisfaction at providing joy & comfort to the furry ones."

k, I could not agree more about how exciting it is meeting all of these pet people, both customers and their pictures and stories, as well as meeting all of you great people on this PetsJubilee team.

I love the item you chose to feature here. Not only do I love the bed, and those really great colors (purple and green again being my favorite), but the kitty is beautiful. I love all of your felted items, and the bed are also my favorite, but I could not pass up the oportunity to show this really great looking hat, which I would wear in an instant:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next is Jenya (Jenya2), who had the following to say:

"I would pick this Rosebud sweater as my favorite. Its so pretty and feminine, it makes me happy to look at it! As a matter of fact, I liked it so much that I knitted a shrug for myself using the rosebud pattern."

I think this is definitely one of my favorites as well. I just love the colors and I love the soft look of the sweater. I bet this would look great on my little girl Gianna.

But let's not leave out the boys. I've had my eye on this one as well:

Since Jenya and I convoed, she has listed one of her new shrugs in her shop. I thought I would share it with you. I just love it:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since we only had 2 team members shops left for this week, I thought about how I would answer the same question.

Although I could go on and on about stories on some of the costumes I have done for customers, I would have to say that the sale that is my favorite, is the first wedding that I did.

A customer approached me to make a Tuxedo for her Shih-tzu, who was marrying a much larger border collie mix. Interesting couple. Here is the groom:

The customer also wanted a wedding dress for the bride, bandanas for all the various sized groomsmen and a cocktail dress for the maid-of-honor. I was honored to have been asked.

I also got a kick out of the fact that they were actually having a dog wedding.

I have been approached many times since for more wedding attire, and I am excited each and every time.

Here is one of my favorite wedding dresses that I have done:

I hope you have enjoyed everyone's stories, favorites and pictures over the last few weeks.

Thank you for looking and commenting.

SHOW AND TELL TUESDAY

SHOW AND TELL TUESDAY - PART 3 I've been asking some PetsJubilee team members what their favorite item is that they have sold or made for someone, and why it is a favorite. Or is there a special connection or meaning to the item or the sale. Here are some of the responses:

Mary (anywear) is up first.

Mary says. "My favorite item has to be the pirate or skull hat :) Its just so dang cute yet. At the same time it gives off the impression that this little dog has a tough side. Its the number one best sellers for me." I am CRAZY about this one as well, and can defintely understand why this is a best seller. And I know everyone is CRAZY about little Hotwheel.

Of course I could not resist showing you the two hats I bought from Mary for Giupetto and Gianna.

Giupetto's Winter HatSnowHatGianna2

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following is a new team member and she is also new to etsy. Beth (WeeksDesign), is also our team leader Shari's daughter. Beth says: "I just recently opened my shop for my designs. How I decided to start selling my designs is kind of a tangential story, starting with my original idea to make day planners, which turned into wanting to make notebooks, which turned into wanting to make business cards. Several large purchases later, I'm working on designs and products for my store, as well as trying to get started making logos and business supplies for others. I also purchased a button machine, and pending a bit more practice, plan on selling custom and designer buttons soon as well."

She chose the following item as it is the most favorited business card:

Since Beth sent me the above response I noticed that she had added many more items to her shop, and apparantly has that button machine working. I just love the selection of buttons she has for sale:

Good luck with your new shop Beth. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next up is Sean (CamargoCreations ).

Sean says: "This dress is one of my favorites right now. My dog model, Lulu is a rescue dog that we fostered until she found a wonderful forever home. The fabric is made of terrific glitter squares giving it a really fun look. It was a different type of fabric than I usually work with so it was nice to do something new to me. "

Sean, I am so glad that she has found a forever home. How could anyone resist that face. I just love the dress, the color, the elegance, the contrast of fabrics and color choice - love it.

There are several outfits I love in Sean's shop, but I actually have my eye on his dog bone placemats, I will probably make one mine soon enough.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pauline(PaulinesFashions) was asked the same questions. She had the following to say:

"I've had a really tough time trying to decide what to send...But when I just thought of the "most fun" time - I had to choose these photos of a Fashion Show from a shop where I supplied my clothing. They held this fashion show and featured all my clothing. I had to write up a description of each outfit and the manager of the shop read it out and had music playing while the doggies came out and walked the carpet. The following is just a few of the pictures (not great btw) but you can see some of the different kinds of doggies that participated. The first picture shows the rack of clothes that they picked from. Other pics show the dogs wearing everything from embroidered tops, dresses, coats, jammies and a wedding dress and tux were all featured in the show.

They just rolled out the carpet in the front of the shop and the dogs and their owners 'walked the runway'.

After there was a part of the shop where they had a doggie cafe where they sold 'doggie treats'. You will see in one of the photos, the shop owner giving a 'treat' for good a good job:) It was a real fun event to be part of and I was so honored that they asked me to show my fashions. That was one of my favorite shops that I sold to. I would come to the shop on an afternoon with my fabric samples and they would order what they needed for the month. Loved doing that. This was ... before I started etsy. Then one month they decided to have a 'fashion' show....so I had to make up some extra outfits and all the customers were welcome to bring their furbabies. We had a 'dressing room' for the dogs and chose 'who' looked best in each item."

Pauline, this was just wonderful. I tried to select some of the best pictures that portrayed the fun everyone must have had. Looks like even the dogs enjoyed themselves.

Thank you to everyone so far for sharing thier stories and favorites.

More to come next Tuesday.

If you want to share your favorite item, sale or story on next week's blog - convo me.

SHOW AND TELL TUESDAY

SHOW AND TELL TUESDAY - I've been asking some PetsJubilee team members what their favorite item is that they have sold or made for someone, and why it is a favorite. Or is there a special connection or meaning to the item or the sale. This is Part 2 (in the order received): Sue (FrumsGlassManagerie) writes the following; "It is so hard to choose just one favorite of my handcrafted items, but if pressured to choose one, I'd pick the nightlight I made for an Etsy team challenge. The theme was "irregular dogs." I can over look my beginner stain glass techniques and call it a favorite because of the subject. It is the irregularities that make each of us special. My own dog was rescued along with 9 other dogs from a very neglectful situation; She is the poster dog for "irregular." We named her Gemma, which means precious gem or stone in italian. We call her our diamond in the rough. She is a survivor, whos most obvious imperfection is her tongue. It shows scars from fighting for food, It is hard to believe such a gentle, trusting soul, would be able to defend herself." Photo of nightlight lit: Gemma Light Photo of nightlight: Handpainted Gemma Light Photo of Gemma: Leg Lifts--Gemma style Thanks so much Sue. I can see that she is a diamond in the rough, and quite special. I LOVE the nightlight. Check out Sue's shop for the prettiest glass jewelry as well. I recently purchased this wonderful gem (and I wear it all the time): ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stephanie (ChocolateKennels) was asked the same question. Here is her response: "My favorite item out of all the items I have done is the Ocean Sea Pet TuTu The reason it is my favorite is because Its very unique and I love aqua since it is my birthday stone color. It is also the only tutu that I can seem to create over and over again with out any problems and its my best seller." I have to admit this is so pretty, and I love the color as well. Stephanie makes great hair bows and storage boxes too. I just had to throw this picture in here. What a cutie in the precious pink tutu: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Patty (Catcalls) had the following to say:

"That is really an impossible question! So I just picked one fairly recent one. Full Tummy " Why did she choose Full Tummy? "Full Tummy has lots of PURRsonality. I can see the satisfaction on the kitty's face, and the position she is lying in is one that betrays her inner thoughts of, "Now, THIS is the life!"

This painting really is hysterical as is all of Patty's art work. Patty has 2 shops. I recently purchased a few ACEOs from her dog themed shop (DogBarks).

You have to love her humor.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Allison (JiggyPiggyBoutique) was also asked to pick her favorite. This is hers: "My favorite item in my shop is the play tunnel." WHY? "Visually they become my favorite because of the patterns I use. I spend hours harping over what will accent a guinea pigs personality. However, ultimately they are my favorite because when I see them I can picture the squeaks and popcorn attacks my guinea pigs have when they play with them. It is by far their favorite toy and it makes me wonder why they like it so much. Do they think passing through it will take them somewhere else?!? Who knows!" Between seeing Allison and Patty with their guinea pigs I wish I had one too. If I did I would definitely buy some of these play tunnels. They really look like fun to me. This little face cracks me up: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next up is Hilary (SewingLoves) Hilary says her favorite item is - "Chas the Needle Felted Mouse. When I was making Chas, I wasn't exactly happy with how he was coming out. Right after I finished him though, I realized I loved him and if he sold I would miss him more than any other item I had ever made. " I also think that mouse is just the cutest little thing. My favorite of hers WAS this heart shaped pin cushion so I bought it. LOL (pssst. she has another in her shop in lavender):More to come next week.

If anyone would like to be featured in an upcoming blog, just tell me your favorite item or sale, and a quick story as to why.

Show and Tell Tuesday

I thought it would be interesting to hear from a few team members, and hear a little about an item that they have made that holds some special interest to them, or that is one of their favorites.

I thought I would list them in the order in which they were received... with one exception. Let's start with our team leader Shari, from PetsJubilee and Ciaohound.

Here are some responses:

Shari responds that one of her favorite items are her carob cakes. She writes: "I like the name. I was thinking carrot cake, then decided to make carob cake. They're pretty and unique, and the dogs seem to go crazy over them."

I have to admit they look good enough for humans to eat, and I have to add that my dogs really love them. We also love her little birthday cakes, and could not resist the oportunity to add a picture here of my 2, Gianna and Giupetto having one of her birthday cakes. You can even see some of her vanilla doggie brownies on the sides of the plate.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carolyn from ForPawsAndHome writes:

"My favorite item I would have to say is my Funny Cat. I was working on my owl and thought, with a few adjustments this could be a cat.

Everytime I look at their comical faces they make me smile."

I would have to say I agree. I love her Funny Cat pillows. And I just had to show you the funny tail in the back as well.
I wonder if I can get her to make one for me in blue??

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Athena from SassySashaDoxie was asked the same question. She says her favorite so far is this original hand drawn 9 x 12 artwork she titled: Weiner Dog Walking the Ward.

She says it is her favorite because it was inspired by a fellow team member's husband after a stay in the hospital, and also because of all the details and the humor in it.

It is a favorite of mine as well. Every time I look at it I see another funny bit of detail that I didn't see before. I also love her bookmarks, and her ACEOs...
but I think these bookmarks are MY current favorite right now.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mary from PoodleLounge had a hard time choosing between 2 items, but choose this wonderful Dog Walking bag. Mary says - "I love these dog walking bags as they are so useful for anyone walking a dog anywear. I designed them myself to have every thing I could think of for walking a pooch from the bag dispensing grommet hole to the plastic sleeve for carrying the bag of poo or dog treats...with plenty of room for keys, phone, bottle of water, etc... and all this without being bulky or in the way."

Mary forgot to mention how great looking these bags are. This is just so eye catching. I love it. Her dog beds are really cool too. But these snoods for the poodles ears make me smile.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next up is Alice from MakingStuffWithLove. When Alice was asked what is the favorite item in her shop, she was afraid her answer was boring - a needle felted dog. But she went on to say the following: "I tried to pick one as my favorite job of all, but was not able to do that...I have to say though, the work I've done for team members and multiple dog families stands out as fantastic to me! :)

I don't think the reason I picked the needle felted dog is boring at all - making the little dog itself is only part of the equation :) Meeting exciting and wonderful people constantly while making them is nothing short of addicting :) And not much is more fun to me than meeting a new dog! I chose this dog below because it was an order of 3 dogs, and the lovely owner featured the minis for the month of August in her annual calendar - which is a beauty! Such a nice surprise" :)

I am going to have to disagree with Alice here. My favorite of her items are the 2 dogs she did for me!! (It is also how Alice and I met.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks to everyone for sending their comments and pictures. There will be more next week.

TOP PICKS TUESDAY

I want to thank Shari of PetsJubilee for letting me be a guest blogger. I am really new at this, but hope to get better. Anyway here goes.

I thought I would share with you some of my top picks of the day here on etsy, and these come to you from some of the PetsJubilee team members themselves. And remember, these are my personal picks, and do not represent the picks or the thoughts of PetsJubilee.

I would first like to add just a little about these team members and what they create. They are all such great people, that I have come to know and love. But the art that they create..... well, I call it MAGIC!

In alphabetical order, by name:

1-Alice.......is a wonderful artist who does magic with her felted animal sculptures. Send her your dog's picture and the magic begins. Here is what she did with my two cuties. Check her out at MakingStuffWithLove.etsy.com
2-Annie......creates magic with her sewing machine and the perfect combination of fabrics. She creates wonderful purses, placemats, dog collars and more. She has 2 shops AnnieKClothing.etsy.com and CodysCloset.etsy.com
3-Athena.......works magic on her computer - resulting in the cutest cards, stickers, bookmarks and more. With the addition of one of the cutest models ever, Sasha, her items are sure to please. You can find her at SassySashaDoxie.etsy.com.

5- Lori......is an artist with a wonderful sense of humor. She creates great tasting dog treats in the shape of dog doody. Yep, that's right, and my dogs love them. You've got to check her out at DoodyPops.etsy.com
6- Patty's........magic starts at the thrift store, where an item she finds is magically and totally transformed into the cutest stuffed Thrifty Kitty pillows, Bargain Bow Wows and more. She works magic on that sewing machine. She has 2 shops where you will also find wonderfully made clothes with both Kitty and Dog themes - catcalls.etsy.com and dogbarks.etsy.com

7- Shari......creates her magic in the kitchen, with her dog Velvet by her side. She makes some of the greatest, tastiest dog treats. My dogs absolutely love them. Treat your pet by visiting her shop at CiaoHound.etsy.com.

She also heads up the petsjubilee team, where you can sample items from some of these great artists. Check it out at PetsJubilee.etsy.com

8-Solange......creates her magic with her amazing and unique jewelry. A trip to her shop will make you smile. I am wearing a pair of her beautiful star earrings as I type this. Check her out at JewelryBySolange.etsy.com.

She also has a second shop where she sells beads and supplies at BeadieAndThings.etsy.com

Me?..... my dogs are my magic, but they have inspired me to create dog clothes, including sweaters, dresses, costumes, toys and more. Below is a picture of one of my newest customers Roxie, who has allowed me to use her picture. I have 2 shops and you can find me at DianaDesignsNY.etsy.com and StylinDogsBoutique.etsy.com.

I also want to let you know that I have purchased from every one of these shops and am over joyed with every single item.

See you next week. :-)
