PJ Team Holiday Gift Exchange Part Two

This week some more prezzies surprised someone in the Petsjubilee team exchange.  Diana from DianaDesignsNY had gotten Eva from PaniEva as her gift exchange person.  Diana sent a very nice package to Eva full with a flower squeaky toy (with multiple squeakers) she made her self, a pendant necklace from TheHubbyShop that her hubby made, and a cute Santa Bobo like toy for the puppers that she got from PetsSuppliesPlus.  Looks like Kami has claimed it for now.

I wonder what will arrive in the mail next week for our team mates and from whom.  I guess we will just have to wait and see.

PJ Team Gift Exchange

This week Sasha and I want to show off the first gift given in this year's Petsjubilee Team Holiday Gift Exchange. I was given Sue from FrumsGlassMenagerie to find something special to give her. The information was very helpful and let me know she collected Christmas cat and dog decorative items. Plus, she had three Italian greyhounds. Therefore, I looked up Christmas Italian Greyhounds on Etsy and I found this awesome stocking. It was part of a lovely shop called TheDogShow. I knew it would be perfect for Sue.

In the following weeks, I plan on sharing the gifts given and received through this year's team gift exchange.  So stay tuned to see everyone's new prezzies.

July 20th is....Ugly Truck Day!

This is primarily a guy holiday, but still worth mentioning. After all, how many of the ladies have ever had a truck? Or 'share' a truck with the hubbs?
Sure, a brand new, shiny truck with all of the gadgets and features still working, is a great thing. But, an old, ugly truck is something to cherish with pride. It has character that a new truck sorely lacks. It has a long history of dents, bangs, and scratches, each with their own tale of how it was proudly earned. Most guys can tell you exactly how and where every dent and scratch occurred, making that ugly truck a walking history book.
So if you are the proud owner of an ugly truck, be sure NOT to wash it or even think about cleaning the inside....just drive around, smile, wave and enjoy the fact that at least one day a year, it's good, right, and acceptable to look ugly and be proud!

This one may not be an ugly truck, but it sure has cute cargo!
And if you have any ugly truck stories of yours or a family member's, please share!
Happy Ugly Truck Day!

July 6th is....National Fried Chicken Day!

National Fried Chicken Day is a day to enjoy crisp and tasty, finger licking good fried chicken.
Fried chicken is one of America's favorite meals. Sure, we all know that fried foods are not good for us. But, fried chicken tastes ohhhhh so good. We just can't resist having it on a regular basis.
There's just one thing you need to do to celebrate this day: Eat some fried chicken. You can have it for lunch, dinner or cold leftovers as a snack. Better still, have it for lunch, dinner, AND for a snack.

And here's a yummy recipe from a fellow Etsian:

                                             Family Favorite Chicken Croquettes

Or perhaps, like me, you don't eat chicken! Shame on us! But at least you can make someone's day with this card!

Are you a cat? (Then you must contact me - I want a cat that can read!)
This is just for YOU!

Click on any photo to see how you can have one of these for your very own!

And one more thing....Don't BE a chicken....Eat a chicken!

From a vegetarian....

Easter Symbols
I love Easter. It's like a fresh start. It's a reminder that life goes on. That this isn't all there is. That Jesus made eternity a possibility for all who repent and believe. It gives meaning and purpose to each day, to each struggle, to each joy. Easter is the hope of Christianity.
Enjoy this little history lesson and the goodies that go along with it!

The Cross
Since the Council of Nicaea in A.D. 325, the cross has been the official symbol of Christianity. The cross itself, is symbolic of our Good Friday faith--that Jesus died by way of crucifixion and rose again to save us from sin.

Flowers
The Easter Lily has long been a symbol of the new of life of Jesus. By itself, it stands as a Resurrection symbol and is often depicted in works of art as such. The Lily reminds us that all the events of Jesus' life point to His death and resurrection.
Flowers such as daffodils, narcissus' and the tulip are symbols of Easter because they bloom in the Spring - usually during the Easter season.

Lambs
A lamb is also a symbol of Easter because Christians view Jesus Christ as "The Lamb of God" because He was sent as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. Also, Christians refer to the Lord as "The Good Shepherd" who watches over them. Among Eastern Rite Christians, especially the Greek Orthodox, lamb was considered the primary Easter symbol. Jesus was seen as the sacrificial lamb (1 Peter 1:18-21). This lamb, known as the Pascal lamb, was borrowed from the Jewish feast of Passover, also a spring feast.

Rabbits and Bunnies
Rabbits are popular during Easter time because they are a reminder of spring and the new life that is abundant during springtime. They were the favorite animal of the spring goddess Eastre. The Easter bunny has its origin in pre-Christian fertility lore. The Hare and the Rabbit were the most fertile animals known and they served as symbols of the new life during the spring season.
The bunny as an Easter symbol seems to have its origins in Germany, where it was first mentioned in German writings in the 1500s. The first edible Easter bunnies were made in Germany during the early 1800s. These were made of pastry and sugar.

Eggs
For many years people have used eggs to symbolize rebirth and abundant life. Throughout Europe it has been customary to give colored eggs to friends and family at Easter. Christians were forbidden to eat eggs during Lent. They were brought out in splendor on Easter Sunday. They had, in the early centuries of Christianity, been associated with the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
